Lake George

Hannah and I spent a couple hours with Cesar out on Lake George today.

I love to take a kayak out on a lake and listen to the birds and the frogs call out to each other. Hannah and I softly guided our kayak into a narrow channel in some grasses and got to see a frog up close.

Forgot the sun screen, and am now looking a bit red.

Permanent

Hannah and I were both saddened earlier this month to learn that David Cook's brother, Adam, had died from his battle with brain cancer. During the American Idol season finale, David sung a song entitled "Permanent", and announced that the song would be on sale on the iTunes store. All proceeds from the sale of that live performance would be donated to the D.C.-based Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure.

I watched the iTunes store for the next couple of days assuming that Apple would place a link to it on the store's front page, but it never appeared. I finally did a search for the song title, and sure enough, it was there - just not obviously placed.

It's a great song, it and only costs .99 cents, and will support a good cause. So please, go to the iTunes store, and buy a copy of David Cook's Permanent.

A Walk and a Smoke

Two weeks of Cesar proclaiming his desires to go to Hy-Vee to get a cigar prompted a visit to Hickey Brothers in Rock Island, Illinois this past Saturday. We spent the earlier part of the day in Fulton Il. with the Blackhawk Hiking Club, walking around Long's Garden.

The later part of the day was all smoke and mirrors martinis.
